BeTogether is a family engagement app designed to help families and supportive communities connect through shared activities and quests. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.
Information We Collect
Account Information
- Display name (chosen by you or your guide)
- Invite code used to join
Contact Information
- Phone number (if provided for SMS notifications)
Device Permissions
Camera Access
- Used solely for scanning QR codes during sign-in
- Images are processed locally on your device
- No photos are stored or transmitted
NFC (Near Field Communication)
- Used to read Ori tags to complete quests
- Only reads tag identifiers to verify quest completion
- No personal data is read from NFC tags
Usage Data
- Quest completion status
- App engagement metrics (app opens, quest views)
- Mood pulse responses (optional)
- Progress through the Luma experience
SMS Data
- SMS message delivery status
- Responses to SMS messages (e.g., numeric selections from multiple-choice options)
- SMS opt-out status
Analytics
We use PostHog analytics to understand how the app is used and improve the experience. This includes:
- Anonymous usage patterns
- Feature engagement
- App performance metrics
How We Use Your Information
- To provide the BeTogether experience
- To track quest progress and achievements
- To personalize the Luma companion experience
- To improve app functionality and user experience
- To communicate important updates
- To send SMS notifications about quests and check-ins when enabled by your guide
SMS Messaging
BeTogether may send SMS messages to participants for time-sensitive quest notifications and periodic engagement check-ins. SMS messaging is enabled by a program guide on a case-by-case basis and is used sparingly.
- Message frequency: SMS messages are infrequent and are sent only when a guide determines a notification requires immediate attention or when a check-in is appropriate. Typical usage is a few messages per week at most.
- Message and data rates may apply. Standard carrier messaging rates apply to all SMS messages sent and received.
- Opt-out: You may opt out of SMS messages at any time by replying STOP to any message. After opting out, you will receive no further SMS messages unless you re-enroll.
- Opt back in: To resume SMS messages after opting out, contact your guide or reach out to us at privacy@betogether.app.
- Help: Reply HELP to any message for support information.
- Phone numbers are stored securely and are never sold or shared with third parties for marketing purposes. Phone numbers are used solely for delivering BeTogether SMS notifications.
Data Storage
Your data is stored securely using Supabase, a trusted cloud platform with industry-standard security practices. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. Data may be shared:
- With your family's or program's designated guide(s) to facilitate the experience
- With service providers who help operate the app (hosting, analytics, SMS delivery)
- When required by law
Participant Privacy
BeTogether is designed for use by adults participating in supported living and community programs. We collect minimal information necessary for the app to function. Designated guides have visibility into participant activity within the app to facilitate the experience.
Your Rights
You may request to:
- Access your personal data
- Correct inaccurate data
- Delete your account and associated data
- Opt out of SMS communications
